Agrasar seeks to promote sustainable socioeconomic development of marginalized communities by systematically helping them build capacities and realise their true potential. As a development organization, it seeks to facilitate people to lead more purposeful lives. Agrasar works on three inter-related developmental themes: Education, employability, and migration.
As part of Agrasar’s work on Migration, Agrasar Centre for Migrant Communities (ACMC) is Agrasar’s flagship program being implemented with support from Sir Dorabji Tata Trust. The program has just been launched (in December 2012) in Gurgaon, the sub-metropolis where economic disparity is perhaps at its starkest. Gurgaon is the destination for a large number of migrants looking for work, mainly from the impoverished states of U.P., Bihar, and Odisha.
