Description
As many as 39 child labourers were rescued from small factories here today and ten persons were booked for allegedly employing them, police said. "These children were rescued by police during a search operation conducted under Bhavani Nagar police station limits," Deputy Commissioner of Police (South Zone) V Satyanarayana said. The children, found working in bangle making and school bag making units, hailed from Bihar, West Bengal and Jharkhand. Seven cases under relevant sections of Bonded Labour System Abolition Act, Child Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Act 1986 and Juvenile Justice Act were registered against 10 accused persons who allegedly employed the children as labourers, he said. All the children were handed over to District Child Welfare Committee. On April 26, a total of 16 children, allegedly working as "bonded labourers" in bangle making units in Rein Bazar in the city were rescued and three persons, who employed them, were nabbed.
