Description
The campaign by the National Child Labour Project (NCLP) for child rights and literacy and against child labour during the Pushkaram seems to have paid off. Boards with slogans put up by them at the pushkar ghats and other public places have been receiving good response from the devotees. The NCLP, which is working to eliminate child labour and protect child rights, had mainstreamed some thousands of children in the last few years. Slogans such as ‘Bala Karmikulu Leni Samajanni Nirmiddam – Balala Chaduvuki Bangaru Baata Veddam’, ‘Pushkara Baktulaku Pavitra Stalam Gudi – Bala Balikalaku Punyakshetram Badi’, ‘Krishnamma Talliki Pushkara Haarati – Krishna Zilla Kaavali Akshara Bharati’, ‘Chaduvuni Minchina Daivam Ledu – Chaduvukoni Samajam Munduku Podu were written at various places. “The NCLP arranged boards at 40 places, including pushkar ghats and nagars, bus and railway stations in the city. We distributed about 50,000 pamphlets explaining the Right to Education Act 2009, Child Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Act 1986,” said NCLP Krishna District Project Director D. Anjaneya Reddy. The flexi boards with slogans have been arranged at Pavitra Sangamam Ghat, Muktyala, Vedadri, Pandit Nehru Bus Station, Sub-Collector Office, railway station and other places. Teams to check child labour Special teams have been formed to crack down on child labour and begging during the utsavams. Stern action would be taken against those who engaged children for work, the Mr. Reddy said.
