UNCEF Gujarat head Bhavani proposed a vote of thanks.It was attended by NGOs, MLAs, state child rights protection commission chairperson Jagruti Pandya, GUDA chairman Ashish Dave, and office-bearers. He said the bigger task is to rehabilitate the children freed from the labour market, arrange for their education and skill development, and prepare them for right jobs when they grow up.He also launched the state labour department 's Twitter Handle and Facebook Page on the occasion. He exuded confidence that the land of Mahatma Gandhi and Sardar Patel which provided leadership to attain India's Independence would now provide leadership to abolish child labour from the country.The Chief Minister said that childhood is the time to study and smile, play and build character, and not slog in the labour market. GANDHINAGAR: Gujarat chief minister Vijay Rupani described that child labour is a blot on the society and it is the duty of all sections of the society to abolish it.Launching the month-long statewide Abolition Public Awareness Campaign at a daylong seminar here, he said the task should not remain the responsibility of labour department alone, but all the government departments, NGOs and trade and industry associations to abolish child labour from the state.He said that parameters would be fixed and competitions would be held among districts to encourage cent percent success. He called for making the child helpline 1098 more effective across the state.Labour and Employment Minister Dilip Thakor said that Gujarat has to lead the nation in implementing the International Labour Organisation (ILO) agenda for 'Sustained, exclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and proactive employment and decent work for all' under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi Parliamentary secretary Punambhai Makwana said that a state action plan has been prepared as per the recommendations of the working group for which four sub-committees have been formed for continuous monitoring.Labour and employment principal secretary Rajivkumar Gupta explained the objectives of the seminar.
