Description
Punjab Labour and Human Resource Minister Raja Ashfaq Sarwar has said a baseline survey giving authentic data of children working at auto workshops, petrol pumps and hotels has been completed in 18 districts in Punjab. Talking to a delegation on Friday, Sarwar said that identified children from 5 to 14 years of age have been enrolled in government schools, non-formal basic education centres of NGOs and partner schools of Punjab Education Foundation, whereas adolescents from 15 to 18 years of age have been enrolled in the vocational training institutes of Punjab Vocational Training Council and TEVTA to impart demand driven skills training. According to the survey of BOS, as many as 11,446 children and adolescents involved in child labour in workshops, petrol pumps and hotels from Bahawalnagar, DG Khan, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Khanewal, Multan, Okara, Rahim Yar Khan, Sheikhupura and Sialkot were being enrolled.
