Description
The Labour Resources Department, Government of Bihar and International Labour Organization (ILO) in association with Aajeevika Bureau and the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Patna are organising State Consultative Meeting on Labour Migration from Bihar on 12th October 2017 at Kautilya hall, Hotel Maurya, Patna. The meeting will be held from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. The objective of the consultative meeting is to bring together stakeholders from the government, civil society organisations, trade unions and academia to engage in collective thinking and dialogue for enhancing migration outcomes for vulnerable migrant workers from Bihar, improve their work and living conditions in cities, and promote dignity and decent work. This event will be an opportunity to jointly identify possible strategies and policy opportunities for enhancing the dignity, safety and security of labour migrants from Bihar. Existing evidence will be presented and experts will be requested to share their views and suggestions for creating an action plan for institutionalizing policies and programmes that address the critical issues facing migrant workers and their families. This policy consultation is part of a series of roundtables being organized across different migration corridors, engaging stakeholders from sending and receiving states to work in tandem for improving conditions of migrant workers.
